According to the Audi production schedule the Audi A7 Sportback which was first introduced to the public at 2009 Detroit Auto Show will appear on showroom floors towards the end of 2010. It should be mentioned that initially the A7 was scheduled for release in June 2009. However, Audi has postponed some of its models for later launch dates.

The A7 will be the second four-door coupe from Audi and will share some design elements with the A5 Sportback but is positioned higher than that. The vehicle is a competitor of such cars like the Mercedes-Benz CLS, the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Rapide.

The A7 concept model features an odd shape. The vehicles is shaped like a coupe, mainly because it features a narrow window line and a coupe-like roof line, the A7 is unlike conventional sports coupes because, like the aforementioned cars it has four entry doors and not two. The new vehicle will have sitting space for four adults instead of five. A7 Sportback will share many of its parts with existing models of Audi.

The Audi A7 Sportback will be equipped with a 3.0 liter Turbo-diesel engine, which will develop 225hp and 550 nm of torque. The vehicle will be available with a new supercharged V6 and of course a mighty V8 powerplant.
