What is the Right to Know Law
The Right To Know Law is an OSHA (the Occupational Safety and Health Act) provision which states that employers must inform employees - in advance - of any and all hazardous substances they will be handling. This is of particular import in the construction, manufacturing, and chemical industries. The Right to Know Law requires that employers: (1) develop a Written Hazard Communication Program which outlines, explains, and documents the policies and procedures to which the employer will adhere in completing and maintaining the ongoing compliance process; (2) properly label all containers in the workplace containing hazardous materials; and (3) train employees on the Right to Know Law and on how to identify hazardous materials.
