Jaguar has unvailed its latest Jaguar XF Diesel S sedan model featuring not only a revised, more powerful and efficient twin-turbo engine, but a sportier “S” designated performance version. It is said to give “V-8 levels of performance.” The new XF is available with a 3.0-liter diesel that Jaguar claims will do 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds and deliver 42 mpg on the European combined cycle. Jaguar is calling the 2010 XF Diesel S a high-performance diesel, and will offer a standard diesel trim as well.
Featuring parallel sequential turbochargers to help deliver the high levels of power and torque seamlessly and with effortless flexibility, this engine is perfectly matched to Jaguar’s sophisticated six-speed ZF 6HP28 automatic transmission.
There are also significant trim and specification changes –including many new features – and the introduction of a new luxurious Portfolio derivative as part of the core range. For Jaguar and the new 2010 model year XF, the high-performance diesel has truly arrived.
When it goes on sale in the U.K. next March, the 2010 XF Diesel will start off at 33,900 pounds ($49,230). The faster, but equally green, Diesel S carries a base price of 36,900 ($54,000). No word if the model will ever make it to U.S., but considering the current state of the automotive industry, don’t expect any oil burning Jags here anytime soon.
