Today Porsche has begun production of its first diesel-engined model, the new Cayenne Diesel. The production started at its Leipzig plant in Germany.
The new Cayenne diesel will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine with 240 HP (176 kW) supplied by Audi AG. Cayenne Diesel consumes an average of only 9.3 liters per 100 kilometers ( 25.3 mpg), its CO2 emissions are 244 grams per kilometer. All models will be equipped with Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
2009 Porsche Cayenne Diesel will be available in Europe beginning this February with a €47,250 sticker price. The automaker hasn’t confirmed whether the Cayenne Diesel will come to the United States.
