New Small Business Podcast Gives Advice on Planning for Retirement
Richmond, Virginia (June 5, 2007) -- Discussion of how to fix the retirement system is still ongoing, but a retirement discussion of another kind should be going on between every small business owner and his or her loved ones. The latest episode of Startup BizCast, a podcast offering
small business advice from small business owners, talks about exit strategies and why they're critical. An exit strategy is a plan for what will happen to your business when you are no longer able to work, or simply want to retire.

During the episode, host Steve Mullen interviews Jay Cowan, co-founder of
RiverCross Partners, a company that works with small business owners to develop exit strategies. Mr. Cowan provides tips on how to create a plan for any type of business. He also relays a cautionary tale that illustrates what can happen when you fail to plan. Mr. Cowan says you should start creating your plans right after you launch your business.
"We all look forward to enjoying our retirement, and retirement planning is particularly important for small business owners because many are hoping their businesses will fund our golden years," said Mullen. "Having a solid exit strategy is key, and I'm pleased Startup BizCast could provide an expert to explain the basics of how to create one."
