North Carolina Business Committee for Education Celebrates 25th Anniversary
It was the first time since the May 6 primary that gubernatorial candidates Pat McCrory and Bev Purdue addressed the same audience. The candidates shared their education plans and answered questions from the group.
"Education continues to be a major topic in this year's election, and the NCBCE was honored to have both gubernatorial candidates speak to our members on this special anniversary," said Tricia Willoughby, executive director of NCBCE. "The involvement of the business community in education is crucial to preparing today's students for tomorrow's workforce, so it was important for our members to hear what both candidates had to say."
Earlier in the day, Governor Easley shared details on his proposal for funding education in the next state budget, including a pledge to raise teachers' pay. The Governor emphasized the importance of business leader's support of and involvement our public schools.
Drew Putt, President of RBC Bank, presented remarks about the Financial Services Industry in the 21st Century. The event also included a panel discussion regarding integrated marketing and communications by marketing professionals from several different professional fields.
