The International Card Manufacturer Association (ICMA) presented their coveted lan Awards at its annual Card Expo held in Orlando, Florida on April 8, 2008. "We are proud that PLI has received this prestigious award," said PLI President and CEO Mark Goldberg. "Attendees at the Expo, representing card manufacturers from around the world, selected Sprint's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series branded keys from the largest number of submissions ever received for consideration." In the global arena of world-class cards, the lan Awards are the pinnacle of design innovation and technical achievement. The series of four key cards are part of a fully integrated marketing campaign developed by Goodby Silverstein and Partners (San Francisco) to help Sprint launch the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The campaign, dubbed "The Monsters of NASCAR", uses Sprint's iconic light treatment to bring to life a series of Monster characters, each representing the competitive alter-ego of a top NASCAR driver. The key cards feature several of these speed demons, and were designed as collectables for NASCAR fans visiting Daytona. Ultimately, the campaign is a celebration of speed - one of the Sprint wireless network's key competitive advantages.
PLI produced 30,000 of the 30 mil magnetic stripe hotel keycards and distributed them to over 50 hotels in the Daytona, Florida area for the February race.
Located in Asheville, NC, PLI is the world's largest hotel key card manufacturer. PLI works with most major hotel chains as well as thousands of event planners and advertisers to produce keycards and a variety of other products in plastic and paper. Celebrating its twentieth anniversary, PLI employs 150 people and has expanded to include international markets.
