Americas Changing Tongue

According to an article published in The New York Times, the face of America is rapidly changing.

Fueled by immigration and higher birth rates among Hispanic women, the United States is undergoing a profound demographic shift, and by the middle of the next century only about half of the population will be non-Hispanic whites, the Census Bureau predicted today. By 2050, the bureau said, immigration patterns and differences in birth rates, combined with an overall slowdown in growth the country'ss population, will produce a United States in which 53 percent of the people will be non-Hispanic whites, down from 74 percent today.

Reality check

For the segment of the American population that only speaks English, it'ss time to awaken to a new reality. With 400 million Spanish speakers in the world today, English only speakers have two choices: 1. Proactively learn to communicate in Spanish or 2. Get left behind. Business owners take note. If you experience difficulties communicating with your customer base, they will find someone else to conduct business with.

Business opportunities

If becoming doctor, police officer, judge, doctor, plumber or a myriad of other professional jobs appeals to you, your chances for succeeding will multiply if you speak Spanish. It is estimated that 91% of Fortune 500 and Forbes International 800 companies cannot respond correctly to a foreign language email.

Better Understanding of English

When you start to learn another language, you first need to understand all the rules of your own. You will learn the proper use of indirect and direct objects, verbs, nouns, adjectives and tenses. Much of English vocabulary has Latin origins that came to English by way of French. Since Spanish is also a Latin language, you will find as you study Spanish that you will gain a better understanding of your native vocabulary. There is perhaps no more effective way to learn English grammar than by studying the grammar of another language.

It'ss Easy

Spanish is one of the easiest foreign languages to learn. The vocabulary is similar to English and written Spanish is almost completely phonetic-look at almost any Spanish word and you can tell exactly how it is pronounced. And while mastering the grammar of Spanish can be a challenge, basic grammar is straightforward enough that you can have meaningful communication after only a few lessons. http://www.thelanguagezone.com

Travel

If that'ss not enough to convince you that you should learn Spanish, just picture yourself on a dream vacation asking for for directions only to become frustrated because you are the only one who doesn'st undertand Spanish. The rewards of becoming fluent in a foreign language are well worth the trouble of learning it.
