Bestselling Author Steven Berlin Johnson to Present Keynote Addressat...



Social critic and technologist Steven Berlin Johnson, author of the bestsellers Emergence and The Invention of Air, will offer new insights into social networking for B2B marketers in a keynote address June 8 at the MarketingProfs Business-to-Business Forum in Boston. In his address, The New Models of Innovation, Steven will map out how businesses are beginning to exploit the power of social software to generate breakthrough ideas, using new tools to tap the wisdom of their customers and clients.



The entire marketing landscape has changed in the past few years, with the advent of online social media, said Susanne Sicilian, MarketingProfs's VP of Events. Steven has been at the forefront of mapping this fundamental shift toward the Internet'ss empowerment of the customer. In this presentation at the B2B Forum, he will help B2B marketers better understand the social media marketing landscape, and show how companies can adapt their marketing plans to a more client-centric approach.





Particularly, Steven will address the new models of innovation and idea-sharing that are beginning to appear in social network services like Facebook and Twitter. He'sll look at how these new systems relate to historical hubs of innovation--coffee shops and urban neighborhoods--and explain how businesses can model their approach to client outreach based on these examples.



Steven Berlin Johnson is a contributing editor for Wired magazine, and has also written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Nation, and other periodicals. His writings have influenced everything from the way political campaigns use the Internet, to cutting-edge ideas in urban planning. He has also co-created three influential websites: the pioneering online magazine FEED, the Webby-Award-winning community site, Plastic.com; and most recently, the hyper-local media site outside.in.
