As part of a newly defined Marketing Plan, the CRL Chamber has contracted Maine Coast Design to develop an internet marketing plan that will build a framework of data, including current

Consider this information from a recent report delivered to the Chamber by Lance Dutson, owner of Maine Coast Design, The search engine industry is the hottest segment of the IT world
right now. The dominance of Google and its incredible growth have caused companies like Microsoft and others to completely alter their focus to concentrate on providing pertinent search
results to consumers. The holy grail of the search engine industry is search pertinence. Providing a consumer with a general information site on tourism, when they really want a site to
help them plan their vacation in Maine, will cause that consumer to use a different search engine next time around.
Right now, Google occupies about 46 percent of the market share in their industry. In July of 2005, this meant that out of 4.5 billion searches performed across the industry, Google
accounted for approximately 2 billion searches. The other search engines combined for the remaining 2.5 billion searches, Yahoo! being the next closest with 22.5 percent of the total.
Additionally, travel is the No. 1 reason why people use the internet so you can see that it is vital to tourism in our area to stay abreast of how the search engines operate and how we
can best maintain our dominant position for Camden,Maine while expanding into other more widely searched areas.
