The explosion of new marketing opportunities unleashed through new digital media development has led to every organisation needing a digital marketing (www.devnet.com.au) has been rapidly advancing in the world of on-line marketing. "There are changes happening practically daily, but as much as on-line marketing is about technology, it is also about understanding a client's needs and developing the right marketing strategy and creative ideas that will really bring home the bacon," said Craig Deveson, Managing Director or Devnet.
Deveson believes the main contributing factor to his recent success in the BRW Fast 100 awards is staying in touch not only with technology, but with what is happening in the business
world. "Growing a business can be all consuming," said Craig after the recent BRW awards, "You're either constantly optimistic or paranoid, or a combination of both."
Any successful business needs a good leader and Deveson believes that becoming a better leader has to be a conscious decision. "I never tire of reading business success stories and I get
great inspiration from others who have done well. I attend breakfasts, lunches and networking forums where people talk about how they've succeeded in business. It's good to hear from
people who have actually done it!"
As a member of Queensland Leaders, a mentoring network dedicated to developing international businesses headquartered in Queensland, Deveson relishes the opportunity to compare notes with
other fast growing businesses. "Sharing issues and opinions with people in different businesses is the best way to learn. I know so much more now than I did when I started five years ago.
Recently we completed a $1.5 million contract for Telstra. Although we had undergone Telstra contracts previously, this particular web-based development project threw up a lot of large
challenges, not the least of which was a completely unrealistic timetable," laughed Deveson.
"This was a case where leadership really made the difference. Our people could see the big picture and weren't frightened by it. There's no way we could have pulled it off five years ago.
It then would have been a Mount Everest we could not have conquered. It was still Mount Everest, but this time we knew the way up."
Now ranked number 73 in the Fast 100 in Australia, Deveson believes that the only way for Devnet now is exactly that, up.
