The Toronto-based company was founded in 2007 by Erin McLachlan, a professional ecologist, who has always found beauty in nature. "I like to think that people can wear these pieces and they can serve as a daily reminder of how beautiful and worthy of respect our planet really is," Erin says.

Erin strives to provide her customers with simple, contemporary pieces that are easy to wear and a unique alternative to mass-produced jewellery. Each Sugar Fire Jewellery piece is hand-crafted, resulting in unique products that are popular with women of all ages. "I design my pieces with simplicity in mind so they are really easy for everyone to wear. The new website will make it easier for people to purchase our jewellery and also learn about upcoming events," Erin says.

About enamelling:

Enamelling is the art of fusing powdered glass onto metal at temperatures around 1500F. This art has been practiced for so long that the exact date of its origin is not known for sure. The oldest pieces in existence are six enamelled gold rings that were found in an ancient Greek tomb that dates back to 13th century B.C.
