Leeds based plastic manufacturing company is bucking the trend when it comes to exporting to the Far East

Barkston - the plastic people, engineers and fabricators of high end plastic solutions are one of the principal companies in a consortium exporting lithographic and chemical process tanks to the Far East.

Leeds, West Yorkshire ( UK) -- Barkston - the plastic people, engineers and fabricators of high end plastic solutions are one of the principal companies in a consortium exporting lithographic and chemical process tanks to the Far East.

The scale of the project along with the precision needed to manufacture such bespoke items is why Barkston have been commissioned to undertake a series of these processing tanks for installations in the USA, Italy, India and other projects in Asia.

Weighing in at over 5 tonnes these 16 metre long, 2 metre wide engineered polypropylene tanks are being transported from the manufacturing base in Leeds, half way round the world to their new home in southern China.

In partnership with Process Line Ltd, a Yeadon based metal process engineering company, Barkston competed and won this lucrative contract ahead of fierce competition from all over Europe. These uniquely designed tanks have been precision engineered and fabricated so that the installation, some 5000 miles away would go as efficiently as the manufacturing did in the UK. The modular design is based around a heavy duty metal frame with laser cutting for accuracy and spark testing of all welds to ensure no leaks on site. The processing tanks, valves and the piping that have been devised to process the chemicals, are all made of specialists plastics that have been identified as fit for purpose, ensuring optimum productivity and long service life in a harsh chemical environment.
