New FixLogix Modular TSlot Fixture System for CMM and Metrology Part...

FixLogix LLC has introduced a new T-slot modular fixture system for part staging applications. It is used for metrology and other light work-holding applications. The system features a new fabricated T-slot fixture plate that can be produced at a fraction of the cost of traditional tooling plates. The plate and integrated component kit significantly reduces the cost of acquiring a CMM fixture system, and improves the functionality.

T-slot systems offer infinite positioning of locating components, which simplifies fixture construction. The T-slots are combined with a laser engraved reference system. This provides clear documentation of the fixture setup for easy repeatability. The T-slots are Alpha-identified, with engraved reference scales along the T-slots in English or Metric versions.

Designed initially for CMMs, the system is being utilized in a variety of coordinate metrology applications. Users of portable coordinate inspection systems such as articulating arms have found the fixture system to be very useful, and the economical price point is appropriate for the application. Other customers have use the system for staging for CT scanners, and for staging parts on laser engraving systems.

The FixLogix system is also being implemented for rapid construction of semi-dedicated part-holding fixtures for CMM inspection. Linn Products Inc. an aluminum extrusion and fabrication company located in Charlotte MI has successfully implemented the FixLogix system for rapid part holding fixtures. According to Randy Linn, President of Linn Products: The FixLogix modular fixture system has allowed us to build our own CMM holding fixtures in days instead of weeks. This has improved the timelines for new product development. We have also enjoyed tremendous cost savings as well. At a cost of hundreds of dollars rather than the thousands we used to spend, we are saving thousands of dollars per fixture.
