PLATO AG Selects Birdsteps RDM Server for their SCIO Product Line



Birdstep Technology (OSE: BIRD), which offers state of the art embedded database technologies, today announced that PLATO AG has selected RDM Server for their next generation SCIO-Engineering - Software for risk and knowledge management




PLATO AG will use RDM Server to manage all key product and process data inside their SCIO-Engineering - Software for risk and knowledge management. PLATO AG's primary applications service a wide array of industries, including automotive, aviation, medical technology, electronics, plant and mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and chemical sectors.



"Risk and knowledge management is a complex problem, and with large scale engineering projects using a database engine that supports complex data modeling, through the network model, allowed us to concentrate on our product rather than the data management," says CTO Marcus Schorn, who is the member of PLATO's Managing Board responsible for PLATO product development. "The result was a more efficient development cycle, superior application performance, and faster time to market with better quality. We are a long time user of RDM databases and when we needed to deploy a multi-user scalable version of SCIO for huge engineering organizations RDM Server 8.0, was the obvious choice. With a defined upgrade path, we can build on our existing investment in intellectual capital, by re-using our existing code base while taking advantage of the higher end functionality of RDM Server."
