Satcom Direct Becomes Distribution Partner for Inmarsat



Satcom Direct (www.satcomdirect.com), a leading innovator of satellite voice, fax, and Internet data service solutions, announces it has been chosen as a Distribution Partner (DP) for Inmarsat (www.inmarsat.com) SwiftBroadband services for the corporate, government, and military aviation industries, enabling Internet use on aircraft and delivering data faster to laptops, smart phones, and other Wi-Fi devices at a lower service cost than Inmarsat Swift 64 service.





As an Inmarsat SwiftBroadband DP, Satcom Direct gains direct access to data that ensures customers receive real-time troubleshooting and diagnosis of possible satcom system problems or congestion areas. Satcom Direct will also be able to leverage and enhance key relationships through distribution of SwiftBroadband to resellers of the Inmarsat SwiftBroadband service. Customers can experience cost-savings by utilizing SwiftBroadband, as charges for the service are based on the data used instead of per-minute costs associated with Swift 64 service.



Inmarsat (www.inmarsat.com) SwiftBroadband was designed to provide more bandwidth across all areas of aviation, while delivering high-quality voice communications. SwiftBroadband provides both voice and high-speed data through a single installation, allowing simultaneous users and operation of demanding applications. Both IP and circuit-switched applications are supported, with a choice between contended services and data streaming on demand available. It offers contended IP data at up to 432kbps and IP data streaming on demand at 32, 64, and 128kbps.



The strength of SwiftBroadband'ss connectivity runs more than six-times the speed of other in-flight Internet connections and expands customer access to other Satcom Direct services, such as Global Flight Tracking. SwiftBroadband can also operate as a standalone product or simultaneously with other Inmarsat services.
