Laser cutting rubber hose and rubber pad, laser cut plastic, Laser cut foam cup and laser cut foam plate, laser cut leather.
The LP8000 Series of Co2 lasers from Worldwide Laser are the ideal solution for cutting a wide range of products including wood, plastic, glass, anodized aluminum, acrylic, plastic, foam,
cloth, and paper. These laser cutting systems (http://www.wlsc.com/laser-marking-etching/) allow for non-contact cutting of
products and provide a fast easy reliable method for cutting and trimming. Laser cutting systems are perfectly suited for product that is held stationary or for product that moves along
an assembly or production line for cutting on the fly. Worldwide Laser manufactures laser cutting systems and they can be coupled with hi-speed galvo heads, on the fly laser controller
software or with speedy highly accurate x-y tables, robots, rotary fixtures, or other product handlers. Over the past 23 years Worldwide Laser has assisted a wide range of customers in
many diverse industries with laser cutting requirements. Please enjoy reading about a few of those applications below:
The first application introduces laser cutting rubber in which we use an LP8050 50 watt Co2 laser cutting system (http://www.wlsc.com/laser-marking-etching/) to trim the edge of radiator hose. The laser is a 50 watt air-cooled Co2 laser cutting system
with Worldwide Laser fixed beam delivery and custom laser controller software called Zap-IT. The laser in this case is stationary and the hose is rotated around using a rotary fixture
which allows the laser to stay in focus and produce solid precise results. The use of laser cutting in this application provides many cost saving advantages to the end user by reducing
scrap rates, eliminating mechanical cutting systems that can crush the hose which may require replacement parts and sharpening. Also additional cost savings are achieved thru elimination
of re-tooling required by mechanical cutting systems when different size hoses are presented for cutting.
In the second application, an LP8050 50 watt Co2 laser cutting system (http://www.wlsc.com/laser-marking-etching/) was used to cut
out the rubber boots from a pad. The laser cutting system utilized a 50 watt air-cooled Co2 laser with a hi-speed galvo head and laser controller software. The laser cutting system has a
laser spot size small enough to cut the parts out of the pad completely without cutting into the next part on the pad. The use of Worldwide Laser'ss Co2 laser cutting system for this
application provides significant advantages to the production process as die or punch cutters can be eliminated significantly reducing customer scrap rates and expenses related to
maintenance and replacement.
In the third application, an LP8020 20 Watt Co2 laser was used to cut the top off a foam container. The laser cutting system (http://www.wlsc.com/laser-marking-etching/) is an air-cooled Co2 laser with a fixed beam and x-y table to move the product with laser
controller software from Worldwide Laser. The advantages for the production process are: increased speed for the lid cutting, no scrap of the parts caused by tearing or shredding of the
foam from dull blades or cutting knifes, no scrap caused by misplaced or misaligned cuts from a mechanical cutting process as the accuracy and repeatability of the laser cutting system is
extremely precise and accurate /- one micron. All these features combined provided for a significant cost savings to the customer and a greatly improved manufacturing process.
This next application is for laser cutting plastic. The plastic sheet is laser cut with a 60 watt Co2 air-cooled laser, Worldwide Laser fixed beam delivery, and an x-y table coupled with
laser controller software from Worldwide Laser. The laser cutting of this product replaced a mechanical punch and had immediate beneficial effects on the customers operations. The effects
included eliminating costly mechanical punches along with the labor costs and lost production time associated with change overs resulting from changing cutting patterns or when the
thickness of the products varies.
In the final application today we talk about laser cutting leather which again provides significant advantages to the traditional methods of blades or punch press cutting. A LP8030 30
watt Co2 laser was used to cut leather. This laser cutting system utilized a 30 watt Co2 air-cooled laser with Worldwide Laser fixed beam delivery and laser controller software. The
advantages to the customer generated from the laser cutting system are significant among them are:
- Significantly reduced waste as the laser cutting system provides for exact positioning of the cut and complete repeatability of the cut without any need to adjust mechanical cutting
press or sharpen blades
- Increased plant efficiency and reduced production costs as the speed of the laser cutting system increases thru put and the laser cutting system requires no expense for maintenance or
parts after purchase for up to 5 years or 30,000 hours of operation
- The laser cutting system provides the ability to change the cutting pattern with a simple click and drag command of the computer. This eliminates the need for expensive change over and
retooling each time a different cutting pattern is required or thickness of the leather being cut changes saving thousands of dollars in expense related to parts and production time
