Former St. Lucian Prime Minister Sir John Compton to be Honored with New City Proclamation
Former St. Lucia Prime Minister, Sir John Compton is to be honored with a New York City Proclamation for his contribution towards St. Lucia and the Caribbean's8217;s development. The event will take the form of a celebration featuring the Mighty Sparrow, Invader, Rootsy, and other performers.
Staged under the theme; The Story of Sir John Compton, the event is scheduled for Sunday June 25, 2006 at the Thomas Jefferson High School auditorium located at 400 Pennsylvania Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, and will be hosted by St. Lucian radio personality Sam Juke Bois Flood.
Sir John Compton has served as St. Lucia Chief Minister, Premier and Prime Minister for thirty years. In 2005 he was elected Political Leader of the United Workers Party, an organization he formed in 1964.
The show, sponsored by BWIA Airlines, will feature film, poetry, comedy, drama, music and dance. The event is a production of The St. Lucia Honors Society whose members include Dr. Edsel Edmunds, Dr. Patrick Sylvester, Gregor Grandison, Franklin McDonald, Henneth Samuel, Chasen Hollancid and Agatha Duncan.
