First Annual Literary Festival a Success



RealEyes Bookstore in Charlotte'ss NoDa community was the location for the first annual Literary Festival August 12-13. Hundreds of participants came out to support local vendors and authors and to hear words of inspiraton from Nikki Giovanni, the keynote speaker.

In addition to the vendor sites, workshops were also help for aspiring writers. Author Vanessa Davis Griggs conducted one on How to Promote and Market Your Book.

Organizer of the event and RealEyes Bookstore owner, Darren Vincent, said the purpose of the festival was to promote literacy among Charlotte residents, especially the youth. Vincent adds he was once a victim of illiteracy but now possesses thousands of books in his collection.

RealEyes Bookstore plans to make the Festival an annual event.
