National Web Award Organization Nominates Pittsburghs 1 Community Web Site www.TheSoulPitt.com for Category Best In Eastern U

With more than 2,000 unique nominations from 24 countries in more than 100 categories, TheSoulPitt.com makes the cut and is recognized as BlackWebAwards.com (BWA) celebrates African, African-American and Caribbean excellence online.

Donna M. Baxter, founder and Web mistress of TheSoulPitt.com has been on a mission to showcase the soulful side of Pittsburgh to locals, and now Pittsburgh'ss soul is being exposed across the nation.

TheSoulPitt.com is gaining national attention as it was recently nominated for Best Local/Community Site - East USA Category. BWA'ss was established to highlight the vast and exceptional online achievements of Black people. The BWA'ss are the first and only organized effort to recognize and celebrate African, African American and Caribbean excellence online.

Now is the time for a Black Web Awards, said Odogwu Linton, BlackWebAwards.com founder. In the United States, study after study confirms that the Black community is enjoying the Internet through broadband connections.

For example, nearly 76 percent of those casting nominations thus far at BlackWebAwards.com have high-speed Internet access at home. This rate is in line with a 2005 AOL African American Cyber study, which among other findings at that time also reported that 68 percent of respondents favor companies that benefit the Black community.

The other nominees in the Best Local/Community Site - East USA Category include BlackAtlanta.com Bmorenews.com BlackNashville.com UrbanMecca.com WindyCityTV.com and Dryerbuzz.com.

The Soul Pitt provides all African-Americans, with a bulls-eye demographic audience of adults 25-54, to experience, gain knowledge and share the culturally rich soulful entertainment, business, spiritual enlightenment, personal interest and diversity in our region. In addition, surveys have proven that a growing number of other cultures frequently visit and reference The Soul Pitt. I feel this award can strengthen the fact that Pittsburgh'ss Black community is more vibrant than many out-of-towners are led to believe. It'ss a blessing just to be nominated, said Baxter.

More than 500 finalists, including Pittsburgh'ss own TheSoulPitt.com begin the final journey toward Best in Category. Winners will be announced at an invitation only premier gala awards program on October 28, 2006. Voting lasts from August 28 - October 20, 2006. The Soul Pitt needs your help.
