BlackAtlanta.com Makes it to Final Voting Stages for the BlackWebAwards
Rising to the top 500 sites of nearly 2,000 uniquely nominated African, African American and Caribbean websites worldwide, BlackAtlanta.com continues its trek of excellence for its online presence.
Nominations for The Black Web Awards ran for a 2-month period that ended in late August, and a panel of judges selected websites that made it to the finals. Finalists were then announced at a live press conference at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History and Culture in Baltimore.
Brandon Johnson, founder and owner of BlackAtlanta.com was highly elated upon finding out the news of the recognition.
's8220;The fact that a judges panel would promote our site to the Finals is an extremely commemorative occasion for us. To be recognized for the hard work and efforts it takes to successfully run a large city portal is very important to us. We thank Atlanta and all those with interests in 's8220;Black Atlanta's8221; for helping us in our last four years! We are very hopeful that as we represent Atlanta in the category of Best Local/Community Site - East USA, that everyone will play their role in getting the word out that we need votes to secure the title!'s8221;
Voting will last until October 20th, and on October 28th, The First Annual Premier Gala Awards showcase will be streamed live online and on partner television stations worldwide.
While Johnson appreciates the gracious nomination and would ultimately like to win, he is very happy to be among great company. Bmorenews.com BlackNashville.com UrbanMecca.com WindyCityTV.com and Dryerbuzz.com all have a nomination in the category of Best Local/Community Site - East USA.
's8220;Atlanta has so much to offer. It is both a joy AND a labor of love to try to stay abreast of it all 's8221; Johnson continues, 's8220; In talking to a lot of other Black web site owners, it is a continual struggle to get the attention of major sponsors and the help and resources needed to maintain the sites. We are hopeful that awards like this will change the paradigm of Black-owned site recognition and help us to grow these sites as major icons in our communities.'s8221;
