First time author Dwayne Murray, Sr., was compelled to write an urban novel that magnified the strength of a woman living in the mean streets of New York City. In his book "The Mouse that
Roared" (ISBN 0976985500, Madbo Enterprises, November 2005) he gives an account of woman who digs deep in her soul to muster up the nerve to stand up for herself.
"Life is defined by the decisions we make," says Murray. "These decisions not only affect us as individuals but many times those that we care and love also. With life, bad decisions are
sometimes made that will, in essence, determine our destiny and fate."
And destiny and fate did take the main character, Sandra Lyte, into a gut-wrenching, fast-paced journey of bad fortune and circumstances, referent power of family bonds, and what is meant
by true friendship. As the plot thickens, so does the reality that the most un-masculine human beings will defend themselves if threatened. "In life, at least once, we as individuals will
lose something we care for and love deeply and will be forced to make a choice to either crumble in the face of adversity or find the strength, courage, and determination to stand up
eight times after being knocked down seven and fight for what you believe to be right," claims Murray.
"The Mouse that Roared" is an excellent book for women who may identify similarities around falling in love, wanting the American Dream, and sometimes having to face disappointment and
despair. Murray believes society often wishes for the underdog to prevail.
