Original Dirty Rapper Blowfly Announces New Punk Rock Party CD and...

Hip Hop legend, Blowfly (aka Clarence Reid) has announced a 25 city US tour to celebrate the release of his new Alternative Tentacles Records release, Punk Rock Party (in stores and available via digital download today).

Credited as the 's8220;man that literally invented rap music's8221;, Blowfly sets his sights on the world of Punk Rock, with hilarious comedic parodies of classic hits by The Clash, The Ramones, Devo, The Stooges, The Dead Kennedys (DK leader and Alternative Tentacles Records chief Jello Biafra also guests on the CD ), and many more favorites.

Known as the original 's8220;dirty rapper and the inventor of the Miami Sound's8221;, Blowfly has been 's8220;sampled's8221; on recent Hip Hop smashes from Ice Cube, Jurassic 5, Old Dirty Bastard, Puff Daddy and including the most recent 1* Hip Hop Album in the country by DMX! Blowfly also is credited as the writer and producer for hits from Betty Wright ('s8220;Clean Up Woman, 's8220;Girls Can's8217;t Do What The Boys Can Do's8221;) KC & The Sunshine Band ('s8220;Sound Your Funky Horn's8221;), and Gwen Mc Crae ('s8220;Rocking Chair's8221;). His inimitable style has often been imitated but seldom duplicated in sheer delivery and style.

Born 61 years ago in Cochran, Georgia, Miami'ss Clarence Reid has recorded more than 40 albums during his illustrious career. He got his nickname as a child when his grandmother, after hearing him sing dirty versions of then popular songs - proclaimed, You is nastier than

a blowfly. In 1991, Blowfly hooked up with Fishbone and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist/wild man Flea to record Shake Your Thang (clean) b/w Shake Your Ass (X-rated), both of which are included on the soundtrack of Blow'ss legendary film, The Twisted World of Blowfly.

In 2003, Blowfly was interviewed by Miami-based

journalist/drummer Tom Bowker for a cover story in the Broward-Palm Beach New Times. When asked why he hadn'st played a Miami area gig in 20 years, he replied I don'st have a band down here. To which Bowker replied Want one Two months later, Blowfly'ss new band played Bowker'ss

bachelor party and never looked back. In 2006, Bowker and his fellow bandmates -- keyboard player Mr. Lock (ex-everything for the Otis Redding progeny funk combo The Reddings), guitarist Chris Chavez and bassist Rob Sherber returned to the studio to record this landmark album with Blowfly at the helm, once again.

The tour plays tonight in Seattle (9/14), Portland (9/15), Oakland (9/16), Santa Cruz (9/17), Las Vegas (9/19), Tempe (9/20), Albuquerque (9/21), Oklahoma City (9/22), Denton (9/23), Little Rock (9/24), Birmingham (9/26), Nashville (9/27), Knoxville (9/28), Atlanta (9/29), Charlotte (9/30), and concludes in Charleston (10/1).
