Dramatic and often hilarious "Hearts on Fire" lets everyday characters boldly speak out against the daily wrongs that most of us feel and think but dare not voice. Babies speak out, Everywoman and Everyman, fathers and sons, workers, a Southern wife transforms her husband's racism, parents, even our brain cells speak out. The listener is given a brief and exciting glimpse of the evolution of humankind, and how the comical yet evil Queen invents the ills that mess up society. In the end "Hearts On Fire" is inspirational and uplifting.
Donner, an actor since 1950, has appeared in 25 features and over 150 television shows and plays. By 1976 he had 25 features and over 150 TV shows, and scores of plays in his credits. In New York from 1955-1960 Jack focused on theatre. In 1966 he founded the Oxford Theatre/workshop (Los Angeles). Some of his students included Barry Levinson, Craig T. Nelson, Don Johnson, Barbara Parkins. From 1976-1991 he took a hiatus to attend university and earn a degree is psychotherapy. He returned to the "biz" in 1991, since then adding another 25 features and some 35 TV shows to the list, including the most beloved character, Romulan Sub Commander Tal, from "The Enterprise Incident" in the original Star Trek series.
"Hearts on Fire" includes a new original soundtrack by actor/composer Byron Thams, and features actress Jody Jaress ("Charlie Wilson's War" starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts; "Hollywoodland" starring Adrien Brody and Ben Affleck; and "Chinaman's Chance" with Reggie Lee and Timothy Bottoms).
