Clinton CT January 14, 2008 -- Licensed Massage Therapists, bodyworkers and interested non-professional practitioners, skin care specialists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and spa therapists will benefit from introductory training on Ayurvedic massage. Ayurvedic Oil Massage is a traditional energy healing therapy done by one or two therapists in tandem using rhythmic, choreographed strokes. Learn the methods and principles that make this a truly unique addition to any spa or massage menu.

Participants will learn the basic principles of Ayurveda, its indications and effects on the body/mind/spirit, as well as contraindications and observances prior to application. Also covered will be uses of certain oils and botanicals. These Ayurvedic Massage classes offer instruction in techniques that promote healing and restoration by allowing the rejuvenating energies of the body to flow more freely. The treatments have a rhythm and flow that covers the entire body. Knowledge of plant substances and their healing attributes when combined in massage oil is part of the training.

These Ayurvedic Massage classes are multi-dimensional and incorporate knowledge of Prana (vital life force energy) and its pathways of circulation, nourishment and elimination, so that Prana remains vital and health-producing in the physical body. Prana may become weak, congested or excessive as a result of lifestyle, diet, mental or external causes.

Instructor Carollanne Crichton is a noted author and presenter of traditional body therapies featured in the award winning DVD series, "Healing Stone Massage" produced by Real Bodywork.
