Local CranioSacral Therapist Treats Returning Soliders From Iraq
Local CranioSacral therapist, John Jackson participated as a visiting therapist in a five
day intensive treatment program at the Lemore Naval Hospital near Fresno California July 13-17, 2005.
Mr. Jackson, operator of Aruba J Mind Body Wellness Center in Des Moines, Washington, has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 14 years. He is a Diplomate in Upledger CranioSacral Techniques and an instructor of classes in CranioSacral Therapy in the South King and North Pierce county area.
CranioSacral Therapy founded by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger, is a gentle, hands on method of evaluating and enhancing the function of the physiological body system called the craniosacral system-membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. SomatoEmotional Release expands on the principal of CranioSacral Therapy to rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma.
An intensive therapy program was previously conducted at the Upledger Institute in Palm Beach Gardens Florida for Vietnam veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
The drugless therapy produced a remarkable shift from hopelessness to optimism for combat-scarred veterans.
Mr. Jackson, himself a Vietnam era naval veteran, " believes that treating the returning soldiers, ( with CranioSacral Therapy,) enables them to transition to non combat life more smoothly and that early treatment may eliminate years of suffering as experienced by former veterans with PTSD."
