Groundbreaking Alternative Health Care Clinic Opens in Santa Fe



Dr. Michael Robert Smith has announced the opening of a new outpatient clinic in Santa Fe, NM dedicated to providing health care that blends the best of evidence-based mind-body therapies with alternative approaches to healing. Smith said that the clinic will specialize in hard-to-treat cases of illness, such as chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, and body/emotional trauma.



With two advanced degrees in Counseling from the Universities of Minnesota and Nevada, as well as a diploma from the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts, Smith said that the forms of health care available at his clinic are "on the cutting edge of integrating mind and body in health care."



Smith stated that he and his staff of 3 full-time therapists will integrate Polarity Therapy, which is based on ancient Chinese and Ayurvedic medicines, into much of the work done at the clinic. Smith also mentioned that his approach to healing has been influenced through his close studies with several master indigenous healers who have worked across the world. The clinic will have art therapists available to be used in conjunction with healing, as well as employing forms of music and sound therapy to expediate the healing process. The clinic will also focus on methods such as guided imagery for pain control and exploring dreams for insight into the healing process.    


   




In his 12-year professional career, Smith has authored and published over 11 research-based scientific journal articles on personal growth and excellence in healing arts. A former Professor at the University of Wyoming, Smith has also presented in cities across the country in such places as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, New Orleans and San Antonio, among others.



In order to help other communities throughout the country adapt new models of healing, Smith also announced a limited schedule of speaking engagements and workshops.
