New Classes Events and Retreats at Insight Meditation Center ofPioneer...

The Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley is pleased to announce classes, sittings and retreats for the second half of 2009. Insight PV serves Western Massachusetts from its relaxed meditation hall at Eastworks in Easthampton, Massachusetts. The teachings of the Buddha are applied to our busy western lives, as we learn to respond to life'ss experiences with compassion and ease. All classes and retreats are offered on a suggested donation basis. No one will be turned away from any event for lack of funds.

On Monday, September 7 at 7:15 p.m., the Center will have the honor of a visit from Ruth Denison on her birthday. Ruth is one of the first prominent women teachers in western Buddhism, and the root teacher of Insight PV'ss founding teacher Arinna Weisman. This is a fundraiser event for Insight PV.

Rebecca Bradshaw will continue to offer a once-monthly Thursday evening study group starting September 10. She will explore seven qualities of heart that bring depth and strength to our lives and practice. Mark Hart will offer Giving Peace a Chance, a Monday night class from November 9 - 30 which looks at the possibility of meeting our lives from a place of natural, non-anxious awareness.

One-day retreats will include Exploring the Dharma Through Dance on Sunday, October 4, led by Jean Esther and Harrison Blum. The day will include sitting meditation practice, creative movement exercises, and a dharma-themed dance jam followed by reflections on the Buddha'ss teachings. No previous dance experience is necessary. Visit our website for more details.

The theme of mind-body awareness will be further explored in Embodying Awareness and Compassion a half-day yoga retreat led by 's201;owyn Ahlstrom on Saturday, November 7. The workshop will include a gentle yoga sequence and a period of meditation.

To serve our growing number of beginning meditators, Kim Weeber will offer a Tuesday evening class from November 10 - December 15. The class will present an overview of the Buddha'ss teachings on meditation and mindfulness in daily life, and includes readings and home practice.

A great way to get to know Insight PV is to drop in to one of our weekly open sittings, Mondays at 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7:15 p.m.

Our Eastworks facility is wheelchair accessible. For the comfort of chemically sensitive individuals, no incense is used at our events. For more information about all our events, please visit our website at http://www.insightpv.org/.
