FlowerGirlPrincess.com has launched a new free auction site for consumers to sell their used dresses free of charge. Using an intelligent integration system, auction listings will be selectively displayed inside relevant product pages for viewing by its website shoppers.
With the economy on the verge of recession and high gas prices draining consumer wallets, consumers are finding more ways to save money. "I've received some inquiries from our website visitors about used dresses. The number of inquiries I've received this year is up 100% from last year, it seems more shoppers are looking into buying used dresses," said Jennifer, CEO of FlowerGirlPrincess.com.
According to the Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association the average American throws away about 68 pounds of used clothing and rags each year. With over 300 million people in the USA, this translates to a staggering 20 billion pounds of waste and occupies about 4% of landfills around the country. "Many of the dresses we sell are only worn once according to our customer surveys. We hope to provide an avenue for them to sell their used dress or offer it free to others that can't afford to buy a new dress before they throw it away. Although our auction site is generally for dresses, it can also be used to auction other types of women's clothing," Jennifer says.
