Szkiba O'Connor is a freelance fashion designer and graphic artist who specializes in eco-related designs for various clients nationwide. Current and past clients include the Disney
Store, Paramount Studios, Bacche children's apparel, and B Green organic wear. She also consults new and upcoming designers and fashion entrepreneurs giving them insight into the benefits
of "going organic", as well as developing business strategies for clients eager to promote and produce products that are eco-friendly.
Szkiba O'Connor is also a part-time Fashion Design Instructor at the International Academy of Design & Technology-Las Vegas (IADT), and will be utilizing her students to gain "real
world" experience in fashion, compliments of Szkiba O'Connor's industry relationships. Newer students will work as fashion stylists and hair and make-up artists; while seniors will serve
in leadership roles such as Fashion Director, Head Fashion Stylist, and Student Volunteer Manager. Participating students include Kevin Lanney Smith, Kat Munoz, Marc Marquez, Jillian
Minter, Orlena Tom and Brian Simms, under the guidance of Szkiba O'Connor.
The exhibitors of the Eco Trade Show will feature their current collections on the runway; IADT- Las Vegas Students will be showcasing original garment and accessory designs on the runway
as well. Student designs were juried by IADT-Las Vegas instructors during the summer months as part of the qualification process to participate in the event. Szkiba O'Connor has created a
curriculum for students which include eco related topics since she began teaching at the Academy in April 2004. Because Szkiba O'Connor's industry connections include many cruelty-free
and eco-friendly fashion companies, students have been giving an opportunity to develop a keen sense of their future in the Fashion Industry as Designers who are aware of the
environmental benefits of organic fabric vs. conventional fabric and real leather vs. faux fabrics, etc.
