New Website Offers Refreshing Alternative for Fathers Day Gift Giving...



In an attempt to provide an alternative to the millions of sappy Father'ss Day cards and World'ss Greatest Dad t-shirts, sure to change hands this Father'ss Day, a new website was launched today: www.worldsgreatestdud.com. The site offers apparel and other gifts, targeted toward average dads who can enjoy a laugh at their own expense.



World'ss Greatest Dud (TM) is not about praising deadbeats or other losers, says the site'ss creator. It'ss about real dads who work very hard at their roles as fathers and husbands. Ninety-nine percent of the time, they do a stellar job. But it'ss that one percent -- wearing black socks with shorts, embarrassing themselves on the dance floor at a wedding, giving their wife a new vacuum cleaner as an anniversary present -- that'ss when they'sre all Dud.



The site is not limited to products emblazoned with the phrase World'ss Greatest Dud (TM). Other related designs are also offered, and site officials say they plan to keep adding designs, right up to until D-Day, June 18.



I'sll be the first to admit it, says a designer of the new site. I'sm a Dud. And I'sm sure my family would wholeheartedly agree. It'ss when you get that 'sAw, Dad's look from your kids after you'sve told a real groaner of a joke, or your wife gives you the 'sYou'sre gonna wear that's glare. You might as well stamp 'sDUD's on your forehead. We at World'ss Greatest Dud (TM) have simply stamped it on apparel and other products.



He notes that these products may not be for everyone and that it'ss up to the gift giver to gauge whether the dad in question would be amused or offended. I think you'sll know immediately. It all depends on your sense of humor. Our products are designed for dads who take fatherhood much more seriously than themselves.



The website, worldsgreatestdud.com will not take a hiatus after Father'ss Day. With year-round events such as birthdays and other occasions, they plan on steady sales, with an obvious spike every June.



The site'ss creator says, We'sre pretty confident this approach will appeal to a certain niche audience. Then he adds, with a grin, We'sll just have to see how big the niche is.
