When it comes to formal wear, there is no doubt that ties have always been a key element of self-expression for men. In recent years, changes to a more relaxed working environment have threatened to make ties obsolete, leaving men with very little opportunity to distinguish themselves. Touched by Patricio Forrester, a new collection of tailor-made men'ss art shirts (http://www.touched-by.com/_new/index.phpm=14) and shirts for women, seeks to solve that problem.
On November 19th, Touched By launches during Fashion Expo at the Business Design Centre, Islington, the showcase that features emerging London-based fashion designers. Patricio
Forrester'ss art to wear (http://www.touched-by.com/_new/art-stories/) shirts bring a new attitude to men'ss and women'ss wear
and seem to fill the design gap created by the 'sdress down's market trend.
Touched By allows people to express themselves in their working environment and outside of it through a line of men and women'ss shirts in which art meets fashion, says Patricio. The
choice of artistic intervention on clothes, or 'sart to wear's, will become a vehicle to express in a witty and humorous way.
The innovative and inspiring line combines beautiful white cotton shirts cut to the highest standards with genuine wearable artworks by Patricio Forrester, guest artist to London Fashion
Week (2000). Forrester inherited some formal shirts from his father and made them his own by transforming them into artworks, then wearing the men'ss art shirts at different private
viewings.
I wanted to create art that could circulate freely outside of the art world, says Patricio. I discovered that I could use my freedom to dress how I liked in order to make ephemeral public
interventions.
Touched By Patricio Forrester carries on the tradition of urban artistic intervention, but this time using the medium of clothes, specifically business shirts. After a long period
dedicated to public art and participatory projects in southeast London, Forrester is back with a vengeance. His best 'sart to wear's designs are reproduced with digital printing and
embroidery and he is presenting the collection under the brand 'sTouched By: Patricio Forrester's.
Forrester began studying art in Buenos Aires at a young age, and moved to London, where he currently lives, to get an MA in Visual Arts at Goldsmiths's College. With the firm conviction
that art should be in the streets, he founded Artmongers, a public art company responsible for landmarks and iconic artworks around Deptford. With his many projects in full swing,
Forrester will continue to make a colorful splash in the everyday world.
