ArchiSpray - a unique method of decorative painting is disclosed. Most techniques for decorating plaster rely on the ornate plaster being installed on a wall or ceiling and are limited in
scope for development of decoration. The ArchiSpray method allows the painter/decorator to use a complexity of techniques that develop into beautiful and unique Fine Finishes or
Artworks.
Unique decorative/art work can be created using a mixture of these and established painting techniques. Australian artist Joan Kamaru comments: "I frequently get asked how I achieve my
Fine Finishes and it has been difficult to explain what I do - even to Master Painters who use Architectural Tints every day" Being first an artist, Joan experimented with the tint/enamel
process and found a delightful new way of creating artwork.
To give an idea as to how to accomplish the art/decorating techniques and a background on Architectural Tints, Joan has outlined the following information for general use. For any further
information contact Bayside Studio and Showroom.
Architectural Tints are manufactured for adding color to acrylic and oil based paint products for the Building Trade. Every manufacturer creates Tints to their own design and you will
find that a slight variation exists between manufacturers. Joan uses Dulux and Wattle Tints as these are the products she uses to decorate Ornate Plaster.
Decorative Finishes are created by a series of applications of Tint and Enamel. Ivory, Pearl, Irridescents and Ceramic are a few. The following information is an outline of the techniques
used to create ArchiSpray Artwork and Decorative Fine Finishes for Ornate Plaster.
Starting with the idea that your plaster/painting will be the outcome of the application of several layers of both Architectural Tints and clear Spray Enamel, create the first layer using
a Tinted wash. Because your Tint wash contains no binding material it will mix and spread across the surface easily. Go to www.armchairpaintclasses.com for great online painting tutorials
if you are new at artistic painting. This layer is now allowed to rest and dry out.
The next step is to seal this layer of Tint with a clear Spray Enamel. When the enamel is dry continue applying Tints as you would when employing Oil and water color painting techniques.
Repeat this process of applying Tints and Spray until you have created the desired effect.
"I like a high gloss finish but there are different types of sprays including a matt spray. Use a matt spray for the last coat to create a matt finish" Joan recommends. "Everyone has
there own style of creating finishes and much more can be accomplished by using the ArchiSpray method."
