Systecon defines efficiency in terms of the total output of the chiller plant versus the total resources used to deliver the output, building on the industry standard of basing efficiency on the amount of electricity (in kilowatts) used by the chiller plant equipment to produce a unit of output (in tons of refrigeration). Systecon views efficiency not only in terms of kW/TR, but also in terms of all natural and human resources required to produce a unit of output.
