Motherdaughter Artists Accepted into Regional Juried Show

May 27, 2005 -- Fine art photographer Lynne Guimond Findlay of Merrimack, NH and pastel/watercolor artist Colette M. Guimond of Nashua, NH will be among the artists exhibiting recent works at the 8th Annual Regional Juried Show, an exhibition sponsored by the Newburyport Art Association (NAA; Newburyport, MA). The show runs from May 27 - June 26, 2005, and this is the first time that either mother or daughter has participated in a show at this venue .

Mrs. Findlay will be displaying her limited edition color photograph "Shell I", while Mrs. Guimond will be showing her pastel painting "Dream of Malibu." Mrs. Findlay and her mother last exhibited their artwork together at "Flora and Fauna", a group art exhibit held at Parkhurst Place (Amherst, NH) last month. Last summer, they were featured in "Generations", a two-person show at the Franco-American Centre (Manchester, NH).

Mrs. Guimond's pastel drawings and watercolor paintings are characterized by their attention to detail. Pastels are her preferred medium for landscapes -- such as the one included in the NAA show -- as they "bring to the viewer a sense of peace and comfort." She works primarily from photographs that were taken by her husband.

Mrs. Findlay specializes in through-the-lens compositions: her photos are rarely, if ever cropped. Although she is known primarily for her film-based and digital photography, Mrs. Findlay is also gaining recognition for her digital art and photo-based artwork.
