With back to back articles in American Artist Magazine in December and January, Brooke Allison and Deborah Paris are getting their share of national attention. It seemed logical to bring
them together for a show particularly since they are both represented locally by Alla Prima Fine Art in St Petersburg.
Allison has been a local treasure for many years. She has exhibited widely throughout the United States, has received the American Artist Award & the Grumbacher Medal among her
recognitions. She has been featured in The Artist Magazine, The Pastel Journal & American Artist. Her work is in the collections of Raymond James, the Walt Disney Corporation and has
been shown at the Butler Institute as well as the Tampa and Jacksonville Museums of Art. She teaches and conducts workshops at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center.
Paris recently made a permanent move to New Mexico but still divides her time between Florida and the West as evidenced by her landscapes which pay homage to the Rocky Mountains as well
as Florida marshlands. She also teaches in both states. Her work has been exhibited nationwide, and she has received the Best and Brightest Award and the Pastel Society of America Award
among many others. She has been featured in American Artist, Southwest Art and the Pastel Journal. Called one of the top 30 plein air painters in the country, her work has been shown at
Laguna Art Museum and the Albuquerque Museum of Art.
In their contrasting techniques, Allison uses a formal layered approach involving crosshatching to create vibrating color and is primarily known for her richly colored still lifes. Paris
is a more immediate painter doing landscapes on location and using medium to get the soft almost ethereal look she achieves.
The show opens January 12, 2006 and runs through February 9th. Alla Prima Fine Art is located at 695 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, FL. Please visit www.allaprimafineart.com or call
