On Thursday, September 29 Douglas Konkol, owner of DOUGLAS Art Prints® News was served with a federal lawsuit filed against him in the Federal Courts in Cleveland (case number 1:05cv2299)
for reports made regarding International Galleries, Inc. being a pyramid scheme. On September 30 Mr. Konkol filed a pro se motion to dismiss in part stating INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES, INC.
by and through their attorneys intentionally attempted to mislead and deceive this honorable court by omitting one or more facts known to them and relevant to the very substance of this
complaint.
Mr. Robert L. FitzPatrick is an internationally recognized expert on pyramid schemes working with central bankers world wide, the U.S. Department of Justice and many state Attorney s
General. In his brief FitzPatrick said, FitzPatrick holds that the warnings about the business practices of International Gallery, which Defendant reprinted and commented upon, are wholly
justified and constituted a public service. Raising questions about the solicitations and the incentives offered by International Gallery for selling its products is appropriate and
valuable to consumers.
Within days of publishing my first report on International Galleries, Inc. I received a threatening letter from an IGI attorney demanding I remove any reports on the company and publish
an IGI approved retraction, Douglas Konkol said. Instead I did more research confirming my original report, I continued to report and even published the threat. At the time IGI meant
nothing to me but my free speech and having IGI lawyers threaten it did. I have since learned that free speech and negative information is the biggest threat to a pyramid scheme s
success.
Mr. FitzPatrick is the second expert to file an amicus brief in support of DOUGLAS Art Prints® News in this case. DOUGLAS Art Prints has made this entire case available in a PDF format on
their web site http:www.DOUGLASArtPrints.com.
International Galleries was started by one Stanley Leitner who is currently the subject of SEC action for bilking investors out of $13.8 million. It turns out they have one hell of a lot
to hide, Konkol said. I hope the court sees that as well as my right to free speech. My reports are well sourced and documented and I am proud to have exposed IGI for what they are.
Pyramid schemes cause bankruptcies, divorces and even suicides all around the world and IGI is one of them. It was IGI that taught me that.
