Jonas Gerard Fine Art, in the River Arts District, will perform live painting sessions during the biannual Studio Stroll on November 10 and 11, starting at 2 p.m. each day. The Stroll hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Jonas Gerard's gallery and studio is located at 240 Clingman Avenue in Asheville.
On Friday, November 9, there will be a special preview at the gallery from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. -- come take a sneak peek and enjoy refreshments before the Stroll officially starts on
Saturday.
At 2 p.m., on both Saturday and Sunday, Jonas will be performance painting in the studio. His energetic, theatrical style of painting is an experience not to be missed. Immediately
following the live performance, the paintings will be auctioned off to the highest bidders, with the proceeds going to benefit Arts for Life. Arts for Life is a nonprofit organization
that provides daily visual art, music, photography, creative writing lessons and art support groups to children, adolescents and young adults battling cancer, life-threatening diseases
and other disabilities.
In his work Jonas references the tradition of abstract expressionism while infusing his paintings with life, movement and color. Over the course of a 50-year career as a painter, Jonas
has worked in mixed media, wood and steel sculpture, portraits, realism and landscapes, but his work now reflects his true passion -- the intuitive, spontaneous abstract.
Jonas Gerard Fine Art is open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The gallery features the abstract, landscape and mixed
media paintings of Jonas Gerard, and the photography and paintings of Linda Greenup.
