's8220;Kansas City is unbelievably fortunate to have a media leader of Mr. Hogstrom's8217;s caliber,'s8221; says Pat Jordan, Curator of the Vine Street gallery. 's8220;Of almost 360 public television stations, there are only 10 African-American CEO's8217;s, and of these, Mr. Hogstrom has the most years experience serving as President and CEO.'s8221;

Mr. Hogstrom began his tenure as President and CEO of Kansas City public television station KCPT on August 1, 2005. Before accepting the KCPT position, Mr. Hogstrom spent 14 years as President and CEO of the Emmy Award-winning WTCI-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was actively involved in the Chattanooga community, serving on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, Chattanooga Family & Children's8217;s Services (now the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults), The Arts & Education Council, Leadership Chattanooga, and the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Association, and many others. 's8220;He could literally fill his office with professional and community awards and accomplishments, but more importantly, Mr. Hogstrom brings a wonderful track record of genuine, committed leadership.'s8221;

He is also well-known in public broadcasting for creating what became known as the 's8220;Miracle on North Market Street's8221; in Redding, California. From 1983-1991, as General Manager of KIXE-TV, he was credited with transforming the station. The local newspaper described those eight years as nothing short of miraculous: increased membership of 256%; increased viewership of 175%; and a brand new debt-free state-of-the-art facility and equipment..

Ephren Taylor, CEO of AmoroCorp (OTC:AORO ; www.amorocorp.com) and City Capital Corporation (OTC:CCCN), will preside at the event as chief sponsor. At 23, Mr. Taylor is the youngest African-American CEO of any public company. City Capital is managing the major Kansas City Historic Jazz District redevelopment initiative. 's8220;We share many of the same goals for the community, to improve the quality of life for all Kansas Citians,'s8221; said Taylor. 's8220;Public Television provides a window of knowledge for many children in the community, opening up the world of possibilities and positive expectations.'s8221;

Edward F. Honesty is CEO of Best Harvest Bakeries, is co-sponsor of the event. Best Harvest is a longtime local company and supporter of the arts and education here in Kansas City. The company's8217;s 47 local employees produce buns for over 560 McDonald'ss Restaurants in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska as well as the U.S. military.

City Councilman-at-Large Troy Nash will also speak. The Honorable Mr. Nash is in his second term as Councilman-at-Large for the Third District. He has been a strong supporter of community initiatives that maintain the flavor and culture of the Jazz District, while improving the infrastructure and quality of life for the residents.

's8220;Councilman Nash has also been a friend of the arts and education within our community,'s8221; adds Ms. Jordan. 's8220;When I spearheaded the renovation of the GEM Theatre, it was good to have an understanding and support of the arts and the community on our local council. Mr. Nash wanted to personally and officially welcome Mr. Hogstrum, and voice his ongoing commitment to arts, education and the revitalization of this historic part of our city.'s8221;

Mr. Hogstrom began his public broadcasting career in 1973 as a producer/anchor/reporter for KBYU-TV/FM in Provo, Utah. He received a B.A. in Mass Communications and a B.A. in International Relations from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1975. He received an M.A. in Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science from Brigham Young in 1976. He and his wife, Lovest, have twin sons, Jeremy and Jermaine.

This special reception will be held Friday, June 16 from 5:30 's8211; 7:30 p.m. at the Vine Street Studio Art Gallery, 2101 Vine Street. Showcased at the Gallery will be new works by local artist Henry W. Dixon. His detailed watercolors have won acclaim in galleries across the U.S. and overseas.
