Forty-five works of art by blind and legally blind artists will be on exhibit at the Eye Care Center at the Southern California College of Optometry beginning this month. "Shared Visions
2005," an exhibit of paintings, photography, ceramics and mixed media works will open with a free reception on Saturday, September 24 from 6 - 8 p.m.
"The exhibit focuses on the artistic accomplishments of legally blind artists," notes the President of the Southern California College of Optometry Les Walls, O.D., M.D. "This innovative
exhibit showcases the ability, talents and achievements of these most inspirational artists."
Many of the two-dozen artists featured in the show will attend the opening reception to which the public is invited. For visually impaired guests, low vision devices that enhance and
facilitate the viewing of the art will be available.
The Southern California College of Optometry, located at 2575 Yorba Linda Blvd., Fullerton, recently completed a $9 million reconstruction of its Eye Care Center. The expansive interior
of the 40,000 square foot center provides a backdrop for the College to feature significant works of art on a year round basis. In addition, the renovation enabled the College to expand
its low vision rehabilitation center with a living skills and technology area for patients with macular degeneration and other ocular diseases. For more information on Shared Visions 2005
