Summer Camp Fun is on the Way



Exciting new camps are being offered this summer by Roxanne Diesel, local drama and manners instructor, and owner of C.A.T.S. - Creative Acting Theater School. In addition to the popular drama camp, Camp Broadway Bound, now in its 7th year, youngsters can be a part of Harry Potter Literacy and Wizardry Camp, Commercial and Film Bootcamp, Comedy and Improvisation Bootcamp and Crime Scene Investigators Camp.



All camps are held in partnership with local recreation districts and range from half-day to full-day camps. The following camps will be offered this summer for ages 7 -13:



Camp Broadway Bound - a week long, day camp where students will be cast in a production of 's8220;Peter Pan's8221;; Harry Potter Wizardry & Literacy Camp - Students will become students of Hogwart's8217;s for a week as they journey through reading, writing and acting all based on the J. K. Rowling book, 's8220;Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban's8221;; Comedy and Improvisation Bootcamp - A week long, half-day camp utilizing a similar format to the popular TV Show, 's8220;Whose Line is it Anyway's8221;, kids will have fun creating characters, dialog and scenes without a script; Commercial and Film Bootcamp - Students will experience the thrill of being filmed for each day of camp while learning how to hit a mark and slate their name, master a cold reading of a script, use their voice and body to portray a character and sell a product or idea on camera, and audition for stage or film; Crime Scene Investigators Camp - Students will investigate a mock crime scene and figure out not just 's8220;whodunnit,'s8221; but how they did it as they develop their ability to use logic and apply strategies to problem solving using analytical and reasoning skills.



Roxanne Diesel is an associate member of the American Camp Association and has been a camp director and instructor for more than 16 years. She is joined by: Sarah Johnson, Camp Director; Cassie Johnson and Katie Deutz, Camp Counselors and several assistant counselors. Camp staff are experienced in various fields related to the camps (elementary and middle school education, dance, music, etc.) and are CPR certified. Special guest instructors will attend some camps.
