In their first-ever festival partnership, two of Yakima's premier downtown landmarks are teaming up to bring four major shows to the Sweet SummerEnder Labor Day weekend music festival.
The outdoor afternoon and evening extravaganza will feature four distinguished performances in a festival setting. The Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra kicks off at 4:00 PM with a tribute
to Louis Armstrong, followed by the vocals of the Tacoma-native Vicci Martinez Band, who performed on Star Search and has been described as engaging and talented by the Tacoma Tribute and
Seattle PI. As the sun sets, you'll want to get up and move to the hot salsa beat of Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao before winding the evening down with Jessica Williams on a Concert Grand
piano.
Tickets are $25/adults and children 14 and under are free. "Whether you live here or you're looking for weekend recreation plans or a wine country tour in the heart of Central Washington,
you won't want to miss this one-day event," says Nela Sheppard with The Capitol Theatre.
Select from barbecue ribs and corn, hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos and tortas, sandwiches and special seasonal treats made from Yakima's bountiful harvests - or pack a basket of your
favorite picnic items and bring a blanket to relax. Picnic tables and dining areas will also be available.
Plan now to celebrate Sunday September 2, 2008 Labor Day weekend (4 PM - 11 PM) at Yakima's spectacular summer sendoff. For out-of-town guests, the festival is located in the heart of
downtown Yakima in front of The Seasons Performance Hall with hotels, restaurants and shops all within walking distance.
