The Secrets of Humanitys Mythical Past Come to Life in This New Science...

His name is Hannibal Smith, an eccentric archeologist who has spent most of his life searching for the lost lands of Amacia, an ancient civilization that was lost 5,000 years ago in the great Deluge. Smith has traveled to the most remote and dangerous corners of the world, finding only fragments and relics. Then one day he comes upon the Temple of Tiamat, within which lies technology beyond the grasp of modern-day science. It is there he discovers alien life forms, a portal chamber, and the "Teacher"'s8212;a machine that bestows secret knowledge.

Enlisting the help of his friend, Harry Clint, and two rather unusual extraterrestrials, Smith begins a dangerous trek from the Temple to the caverns where he knows Amacia exists. In a classic power struggle, Hannibal and his party are drawn into a battle between the Forces of Light and evil forces who seek universal domination.

The Chronicles of Amacia: The Gathering is the first in a four-volume science fiction series that spans the eons of human history, from the remote past, where the mythical continents of Atlantis, Lemuria, and Hyperborea were rumored to exist, to the modern era of the twenty-first century. To create the series, author Robert Downing has combined his passion for mythology, mystery, and the quest with his vivid imagination to take readers to places far beyond the realm of the norm.

"The underlying principle in the series," Downing says, "is that things are not always what they appear to be. What if the fairy tales and myths from antiquity are more than just nice stories What if they are, in fact, based on fact and reality The lands of Amacia and, to a point, even the Temple of Tiamat are places where reality and myth collide." Soon to be published is the next in the series The Chronicles of Amacia: The Wilds of Amacia.
