Each of our 2007 Louie Scholars represents the candidate with the most promise to make a difference in the lives of others in their respective communities, and our 2007 Louie Scholars come from diverse racial backgrounds, economic circumstances, gender and geography, said Betty B. Louie, The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation'ss Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors. Our scholars are chosen for their demonstrated leadership, scholastic achievement, involvement in their respective communities, financial need and their ability to overcome adversity.
We were thrilled with the high caliber of students who applied for scholarships this year, said Ms. Louie. The selection process was difficult. We received many applications for scholarships this year and found it extremely difficult to choose the winners from the many well-qualified applicants.
The Kim and Harold Louie Family Foundation is committed to providing higher educational opportunities to those who have aspirations to better themselves and to make a difference in the lives of others, with special emphasis on youths from underprivileged and underserved communities and from families of U.S. veterans.
