Big Five Offers New Look at Ancient Lands of Tibet Nepal Bhutan
Big Five Tours & Expeditions launches a 16-day new program, The Last Shangri-La that explores the ancient lands of Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan.
The program focuses on the cultural landscapes as much as on the dramatic physical landscapes of three remarkable countries, which most travelers have yet to experience. Guests savor the privilege of entering the home of a Tibetan family to witness everyday life of these modest people. Travelers stop at Tibetan Refugee Camp to meet carpet weavers. As they
travel Nepal, they encounter skilled craftspeople of Nepal'ss cultural and artistic capital of ancient Patan; and
tour a Bhutan painting school, where children still learn the ancient techniques of Thangka painting.
Cultural tours to Nepal'ss remote villages to visit indigenous Tharu people can also be arranged upon request.
All this is experienced among some of the most stunning scenery in the world, ranging from ancient Lhasa, the fabled City of the Sun, to the jungles of Nepal'ss Chitwan National Park to Bhutan'ss pristine heart in the eastern Himalayas.
This program allows our guests the opportunity to encounter three extraordinary countries and explore different forms and interpretations of Buddhism as well as learn about the traditional, pastoral lifestyles that have been lost to commercialization in much of the developed world, said Laura Culver, Director of Global Product Development for Big Five.
The new, 16-day The Last Shangri-La starts at $7,490 per person, double occupancy, and covers land arrangements only, which includes internal Asia flights as specified in the itinerary; all hotel taxes and service charges; meals as indicated, hotel/airport transfers; all sightseeing as indicated, and much more. The tour begins in Beijing, China and concludes in Bangkok, Thailand. Prices are valid until October 31, 2007.
