For many people, being on the road can be a lonely experience, filled with uncertainty and endless road signs. Tonya Smith has lived this life before. She'ss experienced the long stretches of highway roads, sleepless nights and fleeting wanderlust that affect people as they'sre traveling through the sights and sounds that weave into the tapestry known as America.
There'ss long hours that you log on the road, said Smith. You'sre around strangers often. You could be in Chicago one night and Alabama the next.
With her infinite experience behind her, Smith wanted to create a trucking resource that truckers and other road warriors could utilize to make their treks easier to live through. In June
2009, she has launched www.TruckersAndTravelers.com, a site that has a barrage of trucking information.
If guys and gals need trucking information, restaurants, motels or gas prices, it'ss there online, she said. I wanted to support the people who are on the road.
In addition to providing traveling information for road trippers and people in the trucking industry, Smith also has imperative and concise tips for truckers.
The site is also an advice resource with people who'sve been in the industry. We want to help truckers and guide them. We offer things like guiding truckers through getting trucking
authority, and assisting them in navigating through the complicated paperwork, drug tests and laws, she explained.
We also offer a monthly newsletter, emails on trucking industry news and quarterly report reminders.
Truckers and Travelers is a comprehensive site that also has a blog (www.TruckersAndTravelersInfo.com) that offers additional
support. More than anything, however, the site allows truckers and road hogs to have their own online community and haven.
The website also has a subscription-based forum in which truckers can keep in contact with each other for advice, tips and general conversation.
This is essentially a truck stop online, said Smith. It'ss a social place where people with real trucking and driving experience can interact with each other and get involved when they
need help.
