Prominent Navy SEAL veterans in San Diego announce military home buying support for military and veterans. First American Military, Inc., (FAM) gives a charitable donation of up to five percent of the home's purchase price to hopeful military home buyers.
San Diego, CA January 30, 2008 -- February 1, 2008 marks a historic day for San Diego native, Captain Larry W. Lasky, a Navy SEAL and thirty-two year military veteran. CAPT Lasky's retirement ceremony is being held aboard the USS Midway museum and will be attended by a host of luminaries, including Congressman Bob Filner, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Veterans' Affairs.
February 1 marks another special event for Lasky; the launch of First American Military, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization he co-founded with fellow veteran David Simpson. First
American Military (FAM) teaches sound financial principles to active and former military members, and provides charitable grants to assist them in becoming successful homeowners. FAM's
charitable grants fund up to five percent of the home's purchase price, providing instant equity and lower monthly payments to the military or veteran buyer.
Lasky's call to support the troops has been answered by a huge array of individuals and businesses, including Shea Homes, Barratt American Homes, Primary Residential Mortgage, Noble Eagle
Realty, Credit Restoration Bureau (CRB), the Veteran's Administration, numerous direct and institutional lenders, Congressman Bob Filner, and CA 52nd District Congressional Candidate
Michael Lumpkin.
"Having a place to call home is important," said Lumpkin. "We must do all we can to ensure our military men and women can achieve the American Dream. I look forward to seeing these brave
individuals utilize opportunities like First American Military in San Diego and across the country. Our men and women in uniform must know we support them and their families as they risk
their lives fighting for our freedoms."
FAM's program uses a combination of education, mentorship, and grant benefits to assist military families. These benefit programs are currently being administered in San Diego, CA; San
Antonio, TX; Huntsville, Alabama and Virginia Beach, VA through locally participating VA-certified lenders. To be eligible for the grant, participants must be on active duty, in the
reserves or separated honorably from their respective services.
"FAM has developed a network of trusted financial partnerships to create the support in the home builder and mortgage industry that will provide a tangible way to repay our troops
stationed around the nation, whether they are in the process of buying a home or wish to plan ahead for that possibility in the future," said Dave Simpson, Chief Executive Officer and
Co-Founder of First American Military.
