A trained environmental coach from Acterra.org will educate guests on how to reduce waste, home chemicals, energy, and water and auto fuel consumption - while having fun, building community, and saving money!

"I consider myself an intelligent, thoughtful consumer but have often questioned my ability to really make an impact on the environment", said Spa Director, Stacey Yates. "Outside of changing my light-bulbs or buying a Prius, I haven't been quite sure of what to do daily and how it really makes a difference. I figured I wasn't alone, which is why we are partnering with Accterra to offer simple steps-one at a time-which we can all easily do to make a difference."THE FIRST STEP - RE-USE! "Recycling rates for plastic bags are extremely low. Only 1 to 3% of plastic bags recycled actually end up getting recycled. In addition, economics of recycling plastic bags are not appealing. Even if recycling rates of plastic bags increase dramatically, it doesn't solve other significant problems, such as the use of non-renewable resources and toxic chemicals in their original production, or the billions of bags that wind up in our environment each year that eventually breakdown into tiny toxic bits."
