June 27, 2005 -- GlassesOnSpec has made an eFitting application available to all of its website visitors. It allows people to choose glasses from a wide range of frames and try them on. By simply uploading a photograph of your face, you can now slide the glasses over your face and see how you would look in the selected frames.

GlassesOnSpec, a leading online / mail order eyewear company, was founded in April 2005 and since then has boasted over 500 happy customers with revenues increasing by 55% a month. "I started the company in response to a clear monopoly that the traditional opticians have on the market" states Bob, "Our company is all about providing the consumer with choice. Rather than paying over 100 for a pair of glasses on the high street, our customers can purchase the same product for 25 on our site, we manufacture them to their prescription and deliver them straight to their door. We use the same optical labs around the UK that opticians use and we also employ the services of a General Optical Coucil registered dispensing optican who checks the glasses before they are dispatched"

GlassesOnSpec state that the reason they can offer fully custom made glasses at such a low price is down to not having expensive overheads to have to cover and can therefore pass all of the cost savings on to the customer.
