Broward County has gained a new asset in the competitive world of all-natural product manufacturers. Florida Soapworks chose this tropical location in part to enhance its handmade soap line with fresh botanicals and herbs. "South Florida is a gardeners paradise and any company involved in creating natural products would be ecstatic to be headquartered outside of Miami", says the company's master soapmaker. "We now have access to year round healing herbs, rare flower oils, and even exotic orchids," he adds.
Florida retailers and residents are excited about the new soap factory opening its doors this month. "We need more companies using old fashioned techniques to create their products", says
a Broward County spa owner. "Customers like to take a piece of the spa home with them and we always stock items like handmade soap," he explains.
Retailers geared toward the never-ending tourist trade are also pleased to see Florida Soapworks open its doors. "People on vacation love trinkets they can take home. Handmade toiletries
and soaps have always been very popular, especially when they are made by a local artisan" says the manager of a South Beach surf shop. One shopper said "I love buying soaps and perfumes
when I'm on vacation. It's the kind of thing I can use when the vacation is over, not just something to sit on a shelf."
The soapmaker has already had success nationwide through its website and has been catering to those who prefer natural or vegetarian products. The company's marketing manager John
Alexander says, "The location in South Florida is just icing on the cake. We have always created wholesome products using fresh herbs and natural ingredients. Now we have the opportunity
to grow our own botanicals and experiment with a whole new range of exotic scents. I'm sure we can capture a little bit of this paradise in each of our soap bars."
